Summer Fun Days and Celebrations

The Tarrytown Day Habilitation program kicked off summer with an Independence Day parade, with all props made by individuals in the program. Throughout the months of July and August, individuals interested in gardening have been busily attending to their garden, where tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers are getting ready to be harvested. St. Mary’s celebrated July 4th with a thematic BINGO celebration. Every Tuesday at St. Mary’s is baking day, so individuals are able to enjoy a homemade baked snack with a refreshing drink.  Individuals at Bainbridge have been out and about in their community. Popular places have been the FDNY Fire Zone which trains people in efficient evacuations in case of a fire. Another popular place is the Daniels Music Foundation location where participants are exposed to the expression, thoughts, images and feelings that can be evoked by different types of music. Over at Southern Boulevard, where community activities occur all week long, a Friday Fun Day has been instituted where individuals cool down and relax by playing  Trivia, Bingo, Dominos, Connect Four and Uno.  IAHD participates in the Miracle League baseball team, and our players have been on a hitting hot streak! People who love swimming are able to take advantage of IAHD’s beautiful outdoor pool at our Pleasantville location. At IAHD, we know how to put “FUN” into our summers!
